FCS DX is for FCS practitioners who treat complex cases and find themselves day after day struggling to answer the same questions “where do I start when everything hurts?” or “what do I do when I can’t find the source of the pain?” Diagnostics class was developed to answer these questions by instructing practitioners in ancillary assessment and treatment strategies beyond those taught in the standard 3-day FCS curriculum. Learning these skills and concepts enables practitioners to rapidly identify the primary dysfunctions “driving” your patient’s symptoms, which will exponentially improve treatment efficiency and outcomes. This class complements the current FCS curriculum by teaching skills to decrease the frustration that inevitably occurs when your patient case-load complexity and/or treatment options begin to significantly outpace your assessment skills. This course will feature a hybrid format with streaming/ recorded videos from Brian Tuckey and in person demonstrations and training from Haydn Gambling & James McEwan

Outline/ Assessment skills and Concepts:

– Joint Oscillation Technique (JOT) a proprietary form of neuromuscular mobility testing
– Touch Inhibition (TI) advanced concepts including the 7 “key” spinal segments that can cause widespread nociception and segmental dysfunction by causing dural tension and/or subarachnoid edema.
– Extremity tension testing (ETT) and “sequential touch inhibition tests” which allow therapists to rapidly identify extremity dysfunction which creates secondary spinal segmental dysfunction (SGRs) and symptoms.
– Updated FCS scar tissue protocols and advanced surface anatomy concepts.
– Recognition of clinical “red flags” and/or symptoms that necessitate outside referral and/or extreme caution before initiating treatment.
– Preparation for the clinical portion of the FCS Proficiency Exam (base level certification).

Goals/Objectives:

– Students will gain proficiency in JOT and TI to improve outcomes and efficiency.
– Students will gain proficiency in ETT testing to identify extremity dysfunction impacting overall nociception.
– Gain understanding regarding the integration of JOT, TI and the FCS cranial scan.
– Gain proficiency in treating scars.
