Lecturer  – Haydn Gambling

JCS1 covers a system based approach to upper quarter dysfunction through treatment techniques developed by Dr. Jones that positively affect the sympathetic nervous system, central and peripheral vascular flow, and the musculoskeletal systems. This course offers a thorough introduction to various dysfunctions that contribute to somatic pain originating from T12 or above, making it a perfect starting point for beginners and a comprehensive upper quarter review for advanced Counterstrainers.

Lecture and extensive lab time are spent on the cervical spine, thoracic spine, rib cage, shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. Emphasis is placed on developing palpatory and hands-on treatment skills to enhance the students effectiveness with the techniques. Upon completion of the course, participants will understand the neurophysiologic basis for Counterstrain, be able to perform the general Counterstrain procedure, and will gain a comfort level with the more than 85 Strain Counterstrain techniques that are taught. Each participant will receive a course syllabus and technique charts.

This Strain Counterstrain Course was another repeat.
I found it really good to repeat, and renew this work. It is hard to apply everything all the time, so repeating it made me more aware of things I had forgotten about.
Haydn is a great lecturer and easy to listen to.
I would recommend it to anyone who is starting with this work.

The Counterstrain training is immediately benefiting my Myotherapy practice. It is a game changer for treating difficult to treat conditions by adding surprising new skills that benefits both chronic and acute injuries. This course was presented well and easy to follow. Very enjoyable experience.

Easy to follow, a good balance between theory and practical. Something that can be taken back to the clinic and used immediately.

I’ve investigated many manual therapy techniques, counterstrain has sufficed my longing for consistent outstanding clinical results rather than mediocre and short lasting relief. I would recommend counterstrain to those looking to become advanced manual therapists.

Genuinely a brilliant course overall. The techniques learnt on this course are so simplistic yet highly effective in managing thoracic, cervical, and shoulder dysfunctions. There are so many layers to treating patient dysfunction and this technique provides the tools to go beyond simple musculoskeletal. The results I get with my patients from this course are the most effective yet.
